Penneshaw has a small colony of Little Penguins (about 15 pairs) and Penneshaw Penguin Centre conducts tours with experienced and knowledgeable guides every night of the year, except Christmas Day and during February, when the penguins are all at sea.
Tours currently leave from the centre at 6.30pm and 7.30pm every night except for Wednesday and Thursday (at present).
The ferry to Kangaroo Island docks at Penneshaw and the Penguin Centre on Bay Terrace, is close to the ferry terminal.
Booking is recommended, as numbers are limited for a more intimate experience of these elusive birds, and to learn about their fascinating life cycle.
Flash photography is not allowed, but it’s possible to take good photos by torchlight.
On some nights it can be difficult to see penguins. Please bring your patience and wear walking shoes (10 minute walk with some steps).
Prices: $13 adult, $10 concession, $35 family
